Another update from a Twin Lake Fellowshipper.

Hope Community Church, PCA, in Jacksonville, Alabama.

The men and women of our core group have spent much of the past several months working on the property that the Lord provided for us in preparation for the beginning of public worship.  We’ve spent many hours cleaning, painting, and renovating our facilities.  The carpeting for our sanctuary was installed on the day before worship services began.

Our core group of about 30 people began “preview” worship services on the first Sunday of August.  We continued to meet throughout August and observed the Lord’s Supper together for the first time on Sunday, September 6th.  Our first public worship service was held on Sunday, September 13th.  We were blessed to have approximately 65 people present for this first public worship service.  In the two morning worship services since then, we have had between 40 and 50 people in attendance with some new families worship with us for the first time each Sunday.

We were disappointed to learn that we will not be able to begin an RUF on the campus of Jacksonville State University in the fall of 2010.  But we are hopeful that we will be in a position to begin RUF in the fall of 2011.  We are working now to secure the funding and support which will be required in order for this to happen.  In the meantime, we have had several college students from JSU attending our services and are beginning a college Bible study class on Thursday nights.  Please pray that we will be able to minister to these students, that we will be able to develop an outreach that would impact the university, and that the Lord will provide the means to begin an RUF chapter at JSU in 2011.

We are excited about the Lord’s blessing upon the church in Jacksonville.  Please pray that we will be effective in reaching out to our community with the Gospel.  We want to be used of God to impact our community for His kingdom and glory.
